Amerant Bank Arena — MSB4 Switchboard Ground-Fault Investigation

Root-cause investigation of recurring ground-fault events on a critical 4000 A switchboard.

Project overview

Progresíve team members on site at the arena

A critical 4000 A switchboard (MSB4) was experiencing recurring ground-fault events with no clearly identified cause — an unacceptable risk for a venue with no tolerance for unplanned outages during events.

Working with Florida Power & Light, Schneider Electric, and the arena’s facilities team, Progresíve performed time-current coordination analysis and evaluated both incoming and outgoing feeds. Real-world equipment lead times were factored into the repair-versus-replacement analysis. The manufacturer-supported repair we identified resolved the issue — saving capital cost and the continuous rental and fueling of a temporary generator.

Highlights

  • 4000 A switchboard ground-fault diagnosis
  • Coordination with FPL and Schneider Electric
  • Targeted repair instead of costly replacement
